
Justin Pijanowski

Justin earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 2021, where he majored in physics and minored in statistics. Upon graduating, Justin worked for two years as a Research Lab Technician at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. While there, he investigated the use of 99mTc-labeled dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) in SPECT kidney imaging to assess for the presence of renal disease in pediatric patients. Since 2023, Justin has been pursuing a PhD in medical physics within the Physics & Biology in Medicine graduate program at the University of California, Los Angeles. He became a member of the ROSAML research group in 2024. In one current project, he is involved in the development and implementation of a clinical backup system for radiotherapy patients and treatment information. Secondly, he is developing a DL model to automatically detect if the correct patient is on the radiotherapy couch. In his free time, Justin enjoys long hikes, skiing in the trees, and cornhole. He is an enthusiastic sports fan, and roots for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
